There are many reasons why dogs growl, lunge and bark and Jez will help you discover why your dog is displaying the behaviour, helping you both with the frustration and anxiety it causes. Most dogs when reacting in a seemingly aggressive way are simply displaying natural behaviour to keep those things they find fearful (normally other dogs), away. The key is to reduce the fear, anxiety and stress the dog is experiencing in order to have maximum impact and the most long-lasting results. Punishing the dog or training with punitive methods is not the answer and nearly always worsens the dog's behaviour.
You may book a two-hour behaviour consultation during which Jez will help you and your dog with a plan to change the dog's behaviour. If your dog's reactive or growly behaviour is severe or if you have reached a point where you feel you need professional help to assist you with the dog, Jez offers a three-week training program on a one-to-one basis. Jez will work with your dog and teach you how to effectively, confidently and safely change the behaviour of your reactive dog using positive correction techniques (normally spread over three weeks).
Following an initial interview, Jez will develop a plan for you and your dog and help to implement the plan by teaching foundation skills before working up to specific techniques, coaching you along the way. Jez works closely with the dog, training it personally before demonstrating the techniques for you to use.
With committed effort and a proactive approach, the improvements in your dog's leash aggression and manners can be quite dramatic.
