Canine Home Alone Problems - free behaviour poster to help Separation Anxiety and teach your dog to be home alone

According to animal welfare charity the PDSA: “1.9 million dogs are left alone for longer than recommended every day”. One of the most common problems seen by veterinarians and animal behaviourists is dogs who have developed a fear or anxiety of being left alone.

In itself it can be a serious problem and can cause and exacerbate other behaviour problems such as distractive chewing, barking and urination or defecation indoors. Commonly termed “separation anxiety”, it’s an unsurprisingly common complaint of owners, given a dog’s social genetic behaviour makeup: dogs need companionship and stimulation to safeguard their mental health. It is advisable to teach all dogs to be comfortable with being left on their own for short periods.
